Summary

Sweet, creamy, and perfectly fluffy, this Whipped Honey Cinnamon Butter is the easiest way to make any basket of warm bread feel extra special. Made with just a handful of pantry staples, it's light, airy, and melts beautifully over homemade rolls, biscuits, cornbread, pancakes, waffles, or thick slices of fresh sourdough. Whether you're serving it at a holiday dinner, weekend brunch, or packaging it into little jars as a thoughtful homemade gift, this butter is guaranteed to disappear quickly.

Supplies:

Before we get started, I want to share all the supplies I used for these homemade gifts. Below you’ll find cute ribbons, honey jars, & baggies to package your gifts in!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup (226 g) unsalted butter, softened to room temperature

  • ¼ cup (30 g) powdered sugar

  • 3 tablespoons honey

  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract

  • ¼ teaspoon fine sea salt (omit if using salted butter)

Instructions

Add the softened butter to the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the whisk attachment (or use a hand mixer). Beat on medium-high speed for 3–5 minutes, until the butter is pale, light, and fluffy.

Add the powdered sugar, honey, cinnamon, vanilla extract, and salt. Continue whipping for another 2–3 minutes until the butter is silky smooth, airy, and fully combined. Taste and add a little more honey or cinnamon if desired.

Transfer the butter to a serving dish and finish with a drizzle of honey and a light sprinkle of cinnamon before serving.

Storage

Store covered at room temperature for up to 1-2 days if your kitchen is cool. For longer storage, refrigerate in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks. Let the butter sit at room temperature for about 20–30 minutes before serving so it becomes soft and spreadable. Freeze for up to 2 months.

Recipe Tip

For the lightest, fluffiest texture, make sure your butter is truly at room temperature before whipping. Beating it for a full 3–5 minutes incorporates air into the butter, creating a silky, cloud-like spread.

This also makes a beautiful homemade gift. Pipe the whipped butter into small glass jars or ramekins using a large star piping tip, then finish with a drizzle of honey, a sprinkle of cinnamon, and a handwritten tag. It's a thoughtful addition to holiday baskets, hostess gifts, brunches, or a loaf of fresh homemade bread.

Sweet, creamy, and perfectly fluffy, this Whipped Honey Cinnamon Butter is one of the easiest ways to make a basket of warm bread feel extra special. Butter is whipped until light and airy, then blended with honey, powdered sugar, cinnamon, vanilla, and a pinch of salt for the dreamiest sweet spread.

Serve it with warm dinner rolls, biscuits, cornbread, pancakes, waffles, banana bread, or fresh sourdough. You can also pipe it into little jars or containers and pair it with a loaf of homemade bread for a thoughtful hostess, neighbor, or holiday gift.

Ingredients

Whipped Butter

If using salted butter, omit the additional sea salt.

For Serving, Optional

Instructions

  1. Whip the butter Add the softened butter to the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the whisk attachment. You can also use a large mixing bowl and an electric hand mixer. Beat on medium-high speed for 3 to 5 minutes, stopping to scrape down the sides of the bowl as needed, until the butter is pale, airy, and noticeably increased in volume.
  2. Add the flavorings Add the powdered sugar, honey, cinnamon, vanilla extract, and salt. Begin mixing on low speed so the powdered sugar does not escape from the bowl, then increase to medium-high speed.
  3. Whip until fluffy Continue whipping for 2 to 3 minutes, stopping once or twice to scrape down the bowl. The finished butter should be smooth, silky, and very fluffy. Taste and add a little more honey or cinnamon, if desired.
  4. Serve Spoon the butter into a serving dish or use a piping bag fitted with a large star tip to pipe it into the dish. Finish with an optional drizzle of honey, a dusting of cinnamon, or a small pinch of flaky sea salt. Serve soft with warm bread, rolls, biscuits, cornbread, pancakes, or waffles.
  5. Package as a gift Transfer the butter to a piping bag fitted with a large open-star tip and pipe it into clean, food-safe jars or small lidded containers. Close the containers, keep them refrigerated, and add a tag instructing the recipient to refrigerate the butter and soften it briefly before serving. Pair it with homemade bread, biscuits, or pancake mix for an especially thoughtful gift.

Storage

Store the butter covered in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks. Let it sit at room temperature for 20 to 30 minutes before serving so it becomes soft and spreadable. For short-term serving, it may remain covered at a cool room temperature for up to 1 to 2 days, but refrigerate it sooner if your kitchen is warm. Freeze in an airtight container for up to 2 months and thaw overnight in the refrigerator.

Make Ahead

Prepare the butter several days before serving and keep it in an airtight container in the refrigerator. For gifting, pipe it into clean jars or small containers, cover tightly, and refrigerate until delivery. Add a “Keep Refrigerated” tag and transport it chilled during warm weather.

A Note from Madeline May

I love the little details that make an ordinary meal feel thoughtful, and a bowl of freshly whipped butter is one of the simplest. It takes only a few minutes to make, but feels so special served beside warm rolls at brunch, a holiday dinner, or a cozy meal at home. Piped into little jars and paired with a loaf of bread, it also makes the sweetest homemade gift for a neighbor, hostess, or someone you love.
