Harvest Basket Crudités

Harvest Basket Crudités

This harvest basket crudité is meant to feel like you just gathered everything fresh from the garden and placed it into a basket. It’s colorful, layered, and a little imperfect in the best way. I like tucking chamomile throughout, the way you would see flowers in a real garden, both for beauty and that soft, natural feeling. It’s one of those things where you can really get creative and make it your own.

Ingredients

For the base

Large basket
Linen napkin or soft kitchen towel
Ribbon (for tying a bow around the basket)

For the dip (center)

Hummus
or roasted carrot hummus
or whipped feta
or herby yogurt dip

Optional: olive oil, flaky salt, cracked pepper

For the vegetables

Mini rainbow carrots
Red carrots
Carrots with stems (for draping over the basket)
Celery sticks
Cucumber spears
Watermelon radish
Radishes
Cherry tomatoes on the vine
Yellow bell peppers
Purple cauliflower
Yellow cauliflower

For the base greens

Swiss chard
Radicchio

For balance and sweetness

Yellow apples, sliced

For garnish

Chamomile flowers
Edible pansies
Fresh herbs like parsley, dill, or chives

Instructions

1. Line the basket

Line your basket with a linen napkin and let it drape naturally over the sides. Tie a ribbon around the basket for a soft, finished look.

2. Add the dip

Place a small bowl of your dip in the center and finish it with a drizzle of olive oil, flaky salt, and cracked pepper.

3. Build the base

Start with Swiss chard and radicchio to create a full base layer. This helps everything sit nicely and gives that garden feel right away.

4. Add structure

Arrange larger vegetables like carrots, celery, cucumbers, cauliflower, and bell peppers around the dip to create shape.

5. Layer in color

Add watermelon radish, radishes, tomatoes on the vine, and peppers in sections. Let similar colors sit together so it feels natural but still visually balanced.

6. Add softer elements

Tuck in yellow apple slices to break up the vegetables and add a little sweetness.

7. Create the harvest look

Let some carrots with stems hang over the edge of the basket and allow greens to spill out slightly so it feels freshly gathered.

8. Finish with flowers

Tuck chamomile into the corners and throughout the basket, just like you would see flowers in a real garden. Add edible pansies and herbs for a soft, finished look.

Tips

Get super creative with this. There’s no perfect way to arrange it. The more natural and abundant it feels, the better. Think of it like you’re building a little garden inside your basket.
