Strawberry Shortcake Trifle
Strawberry Shortcake Trifle
When I was creating the menu for my bridesmaids proposal, I just KNEW I had to have a lovely centerpiece trifle. These cakes are so simple to make and also so stunning. As a bride who has been super overwhelmed & a bit down during wedding planning, I knew I had to make this hosting experience as stress-free as possible. This cake is so so simple. All you need to do is layer cakes, cool whip, and berries! I am still working on my white cake recipe so unfortunately I won’t be sharing one in this blog post. I will update this as soon as I develop a recipe I love. Feel free to use your favorite white cake recipe or even a box mix for this! I considered using buttercream as one of the layers for this recipe, however, I decided on cool whip as it holds its form very very well even when left outside for a bit for a party!
This strawberry shortcake trifle is one of the easiest desserts to make when you're feeding a group. Layers of soft white cake, fresh berries, strawberry jam, and fluffy Cool Whip come together in a beautiful dessert that looks impressive in a trifle dish!
My favorite thing about this trifle cake is that there are SO many fun variations you can do!!! Just let your heart lead you and get creative with it!
It’s perfect for spring gatherings, brunch, or any dinner where you want something sweet and crowd-pleasing.

(Use your favorite white cake recipe or a box mix.)2–3 cups sliced strawberries

Optional toppings
Buttercream frosting
Extra fresh berries

Bake a white cake according to your favorite recipe or box mix directions using two 8-inch cake pans.
Allow the cakes to cool completely before assembling the trifle.
Cut or tear the cake into large chunks.
In a trifle dish or clear serving bowl, add a layer of cake pieces across the bottom.
Add a layer of mixed berries (strawberries, raspberries, and blueberries).
Spread a generous layer of Cool Whip over the berries.
Spoon small dollops of strawberry jam over the Cool Whip layer.
Add another layer of cake pieces.
Finish with more Cool Whip and top with fresh berries.
Optional: pipe or spoon buttercream frosting on top.
Chill until ready to serve.
Notes
Cool Whip holds its shape longer than homemade whipped cream, which makes this trifle easier to assemble ahead of time and keeps the layers looking beautiful when serving.
For a fun touch, top with edible flowers!
